Come Visit Beautiful Wichita Falls Texas

Wichita Falls Texas has so many charming places and things to see and do in the downtown area.

The city of Wichita Falls Texas is a small city on TX HWY 287 between Houston and Denver. You probably knew that, but did you know it is the most maneuverable city of over 100,000 residents in the United States? You can drive anywhere in town to almost anywhere else in the city limits in fifteen minutes or less.

Downtown Wichita Falls, Texas

WF (as it’s commonly referred to by lots of locals) has an aging downtown and is experiencing rejuvenation to some extent. Wineries, tap rooms, great dining options, and up-to-date apartments are all within walking distance of one another. And the streets and sidewalks are in new condition. There is a local food truck park near the Farmers Market and Maniac’s Mansion is a great place for teens to hang out.

Moody Auditorium hosts amazing and relevant music acts, the MPEC is home to a semi-pro hockey team and a large number of annual events such as the Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred (HHH for the acronym-prone locals) bicycle event. The Flyover is the upper level of I-44, the shortest interstate highway in the world, and underneath is a refuge for the poverty-stricken where they can receive much-needed social services, such as the Wichita Falls Area Foodbank, the Salvation Army of Wichita Falls, Texas, Habitat for Humanity, Patsy’s House and many other valuable programs.

MIDWESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY

This fine Liberal Arts University attracts students from across Texoma and western North Texas for affordable high-quality education. MSU shares some athletic facilities such as Memorial Stadium (off Midwestern Parkway) with the local high schools. During the Holidays, make sure you visit the Burns-MSU Fantasy of Lights. It is completely free and such a joy to experience.
