A couple of hours south of Oklahoma City and Dallas, Wichita Falls is a big town with a small-town feel. The city, set in Northern Texas, is an unusual combination of old-world charm with a modern flair. Since we love finding unique, quirky things about any place we go, it was easy to find a host of interesting things to do in Wichita Falls.

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
Herds of bison, longhorn cattle, and elk, along with other mammal species have been purposefully introduced. Along with the wildlife, there are excellent hiking trails of all different levels of difficulty and scenery.

While a large part of the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge is closed to the general public, the remaining public use area still provides a vast area for numerous recreational activities, not the least of which are great hiking trails.
Medicine Park
Wedged between the city of Lawton, Fort Sill, and one of the United States’ pristine national parks, ( The Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge ), sits the vintage cobble resort town. The residents preserved many of the original structures fashioned of the round red rocks keeping this quaint little town your perfect home base to explore the area.
Wichita Mountains Scenic Byway
This route is probably the easiest to tour of Oklahoma’s scenic byways. The scenic drive is a short drive southwest of Oklahoma City and has more natural beauty and fewer gas stations than any other of Oklahoma’s scenic routes!
