If you and your bestie have a long weekend in western Canada together, or if you arrive via cruise terminal on the north shore, Vancouver BC or British Columbia is a great place to relax on your own, and participate in any number of fun activities available downtown Vancouver and the surrounding area. A lot of us enter the city via cruise ship and start our tour from Canada Place.
There are a lot of commercial enterprises that you would probably find worthwhile in the area. BC ferries is a travel company that focuses primarily on the Victoria BC area. And there are other destinations for multiple uses such as Town Centre Park. They have tennis courts 24 hour playgrounds and even a skate park and BMI jump park. These are located in Coquitlam just east of Victoria.
I recommend a pancake breakfast as one of your first stops. After that, you have lots of choices! Take a walking tour through town and enjoy the historic buildings or, if you are lucky enough to be there on July 1, you can go to the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre and take part in all of the Surrey Canada day events. You’re sure to find more than one beer garden, live music, and food trucks, and from year to year, you can also see magic shows within a short walk of the main event. Canada day celebrations go on throughout downtown Victoria. Just a reminder, these are family-friendly activities.
Another important destination in the Victoria area is Castle Park officially known as Castle Fun Park. This is in nearby Abbottsford.
